Privacy policy
Trivia Night Now is designed to work without user accounts and to collect as little personal information as practical.
Information used to run a game
When someone hosts or joins a room, the service processes the room code, player nickname, answers, scores, connection/readiness state, and timestamps needed to synchronize the game. Use a nickname rather than a real full name. Inactive rooms and their player and answer records are deleted after approximately six hours.
Information stored in your browser
Local storage keeps an anonymous room pass containing the room code and a random room token—not the player nickname—so the same device can reconnect after a refresh, a closed browser, or a brief connection loss. The pass is removed when you choose Leave and becomes unusable when the room expires. Local storage also keeps hashed question fingerprints to reduce repeats and saves your privacy preference. These essential items are not advertising trackers. You can remove them at any time by choosing Leave or clearing this site’s browser data.
Optional anonymous analytics
If you choose to allow analytics, the site records only a limited event name, the site path, and the time—for example, a page view, room creation, join, game start, or completed game. The application does not store an advertising identifier, player nickname, room code, IP address, or full user-agent string in its analytics table. Analytics events are retained for up to 13 months. The hosting provider may still process ordinary network and security logs under its own terms.
Current choice: Not chosen yet
These buttons control our first-party analytics only. They do not affect the essential room session, local repeat-question history, or Google’s separate advertising choices.
Contact messages
The contact form stores the selected subject, message, submission time, and an email address only if you choose to provide one. Messages are used to answer requests, investigate problems, and improve the service. They are automatically removed after approximately 90 days and are not sold.
Third-party services and content
The site is hosted using ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. Trivia lookup may contact Open Trivia DB, GitHub-hosted OpenTriviaQA files, Wikidata, Wikipedia, and relevant Fandom APIs. Topic background images can load from Wikimedia Commons or the WordPress Photo Directory, which may receive standard request information such as your IP address and browser headers. Google AdSense site code is installed for site verification and advertising.
Advertising
Google AdSense and its advertising partners may receive standard request and device information and may use cookies or similar technology to deliver, limit, measure, and protect advertising when ads are enabled. Google’s separate certified consent message handles advertising choices where required. The site’s Cookie settings control only its optional first-party analytics. Player nicknames, answers, scores, room codes, and room tokens are not sold to advertisers. Manual ads are not placed inside the lobby, question, answer, or reveal screens. See the Google Privacy Policy for more information.
Children and family play
The game can be used in a family setting under adult supervision, but it is not designed to collect personal information from children. Children should use non-identifying nicknames and should not submit the contact form without a parent or guardian.
Your choices and requests
You can disable optional analytics above, clear local browser data at any time, or use the contact page to request access to or deletion of a contact message. Because game rooms have no accounts and expire quickly, include enough detail for a request to be located without sending a room token or other secret.
Policy changes
Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. Continued use after a change means the revised policy applies to later activity.
